"Oh no, Mama!" E yelled. "The Easter Bunny won't come if it's wet outside!"As we walked to the car, the wind started blowing. The girls were in their fleece jackets, and it was in the mid-50s. Not the warmest morning to date this year, but not winter coat-worthy.
"Mommy! The Easter Bunny isn't going to come if it's this cold outside!"Luckily, we saw an *actual* bunny hop by. I told her it was the Easter Bunny, mapping out his route for Sunday.
Seeing as I still have to get all the stuff for the baskets, as well as an actual basket for A...it's good to know that if time runs out I can always blame it on the Easter Bunny and his primadonna ways!
So, tell me...what's going in your kiddos Easter Baskets this year?

Harrison is getting a chocolate bunny (small one), some jelly belly's, 2 books and a music cd for the car. Brady and Jack are getting 2 board books each and a music cd for the car...didn't you know the Easter Bunny was a big reader?
My mom does the boy's Easter baskets, we just add a few things...she goes way, way overboard. Clothes, bathing suits, sunglasses, candy, craft supplies, the whole 9 yards. I am sure one of these days she will "pass the torch" and then R and G will be tres disappointed.
One fun thing we are going to do this year that we used to do when I was a kid is that on Easter morning the Easter bunny leaves a "trail" of jelly beans from your bedroom door, to the Easter basket, which is hidden somewhere far away in the house. You can use two different types of sizes of jelly beans for different kids. Not sure how well this will work for G, but I know R will get a huge kick out of it.
I still have Easter basket filling to do!!! DD would say at Christmas that it wasn't Christmas until is was snowing. We live in SC, so I had to convince her it was not going to snow on Christmas but Santa would still make it!
we also hide our Easter Baskets too. This year we are going to have clues (Diego-style)...
I have never heard of hiding the Easter baskets...interesting!
I just ran to AC Moore to get eggs/stickers for the school egg hunt tomorrow and picked up some cute pink and green baskets and some Play-doh filled eggs. So they're guaranteed to have a basket and 4 eggs each.
Hey...it's a start.
Our kids are getting games (new Candy Land after some one riped the board, Ladybug Game, Fishing Game, Cooties) and books, bubbles- no candy though. They'll get candy at the neighborhood egg hunt, and if we buy candy, I eat it, the kids won't!!!
Our baskets were always hidden growing up- I never knew people didn't do that!!! I remember my mom would be so good at hiding all of our baskets and my dad would always stick hers in the oven or lazy susan- always within a few feet of where he started!
Ours were always hidden because I was freaked by the concept of an overgrown rabbit hopping into my bedroom was I was sleeping at night. Strangely, the tooth fairy didn't cause me concern...
We also hid our baskets. The best hiding place my mom... I mean the easter bunny... ever had was the washing machine. It took a long time for me to find that one. This year we will be away, but my mom and I plan to hide things all around the house and plant clues with each one. (My mom used to do this on V-Day.) Since it is a rental home, we cannot really plan ahead, because we do not know what will be there. Books, bubbles, new loofahs, crayons, etc, will be hidden in our house.
I can't believe I'm the only person who has never heard of this hiding the basket thing. Mom and Dad...you have some explaining to do!
And, Marathon Mom...do the parents in your family get baskets?!?!? You mention your dad hiding your mom's basket. I thought I just had to pilfer the girls candy. I didn't realize I could get my *own* basket!
Oh my parents didn't hide them either, but Dan's did...I love the tradition, so we've passed it on. Last year one of the hiding places was the dryer...
I never heard of hiding baskets nor did I hear of adults getting big baskets of chocolate bunnies and eggs. I like both of these - especially the second.
It's never too late to start a new tradition.
I did hear of a "dead bunny" on the steps. For some reason, Dad thought the story of a bunny hoping @ the world delivering chicken eggs was too unbelievable even for kids to buy.
I guess the slacker mama didn't fall too far from the tree. However, we did hide eggs even when you were in college - remember we hid them in the car?

Did you ever think the Easter Basket comment would generate so much interest? :)
Yes- my mom and dad each got baskets. My mom would put the candy in hers and my dad would add a few last minute gifts, usually earrings and little things like that. Up until my mom moved here she sent us baskets which we hid, we haven't done it since the kids were born though. Once they are more into easter we may. Now my mom always hid hard boiled eggs all over the house- and we were always short after finding them. A few days or weeks later someone would happen upon one, sometimes led to the awol egg by the 'odor'
