the perfect storm

Earlier today, I took A to the doctor's office after *another* rough night of sleeping. For those of you keeping score at home, that would be Visit #4 for Sweet Baby A (#1 to diagnose ear infection, #2 to glue together forehead, #3 for 18 month well check and re-diagnose ear infection, and #4 today).

The Good News! A's ear infection is clearing up. Doctor terms such as "dull and red" and "the membrane is moving" were used. While they don't sound all that positive to me...she seemed happy.

The Bad News! A's ear infection is clearing up...which means it is not likely the reason for her causing me to believe she will never ever sleep through the night ever again nocturnal awakenings. The Ped said that most likely, the ear infection is a minor contributor, with her newly broken-through I-teeth and habit are the cause. Add to that the dreaded separation anxiety, and you've got the perfect storm of sleeplessness.

So what's an exhausted mama to do? Well, increase her Motrin, apparently. I have my doubts that this will work...but here's to minor miracles.

Ever since we moved the clocks forward, Hadden's been testing my patience as far as sleep goes, and finally, after a particularly bad evening and night, I am re-instituting the Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child program at Chez JerseyBaby (aka "cry it out"). If you want to call each other when we would otherwise be listening to the crying and thinking about going in, do it! We'll drink wine and ignore the background noise until they fall asleep. Glad the ears are in the clear!

Glad the ears are clearing up, sorry about the sleep. I am strict at night because I need my sleep!!! I am dreading Julia's move to a real bed, I have a feeling I will never sleep again after that move!

Poor baby & poor Mama - No sleep is such a big problem - especially when Mama also has to be relatively coherent @ work.

I hope the Motrin works!

Bonne chance,
Nonna
