a tisket, a tasket

Easter 2009 was a success in the Slacker household. On Friday, John's parents, brothers, sister-in-law and dog-in-law descended upon the Slacker house for dinner. I can't remember the last time that everyone had been together in the same room. Good times were had by all, especially the girls. Since Dave, Grandmom and Granddad were all sleeping at our place, the girls got to have slumber parties in A's room for the weekend. They are true partners in crime and were whooping it up until 10PM, when I was finally able to get them to settle down and go to sleep.

Saturday was spent running errands and hanging out around the house. We bought eggs to dye...but somehow the day slipped away and we never got to it. Now we are the proud owners of 3 dozen eggs...so I'm assuming we'll at least be hard boiling some soon regardless. After a delicious dinner off the grill and some more slumber party wrangling...the day came to a close.

The girls got up pretty early on Sunday, raring to go to see their baskets. The egg hunt went AWESOME. We had 42 eggs with 6 money eggs...E found 22, A found 20 but they each found 3 money eggs. How perfect is that?

We headed out to church where the girls were reasonably well-behaved. After we got back, John's Aunt and Uncle arrived and my parents arrived...each bearing more gifts and candy.

And I'm not sure how I didn't notice this...but I ended up hosting 11 people for Easter Brunch. The enormity of that task didn't hit me until I realized that we should probably set the table...and there were 11 of us eating. Yikes! But we had a pretty tasty lunch with a honey-baked ham, glazed carrots, baked pasta (thanks, Mom!), biscuits, and fruit salad...and then brownies and bread pudding for dessert.

After playing outside for a while, the guests began to trickle out. Dinner was leftover lunch, and we managed to polish off a couple of dishes. Bedtime was a total breeze for the girls.

All in all, it was a great weekend. Busy and full of family...what more could you ask for? Hope yours was good as well!
