That's so not the case any more.
I spent all weekend with 2 preschoolers, 2 grandparents and a pregnant woman. I went to bed before midnight, kept my wine drinking to a (relative) minimum and slept well. And yet, I'm so exhausted from the hubbub of the weekend.
Of course, it doesnt' help that I'm still shocked -- SHOCKED! -- at how early it gets dark because of daylight savings. I mean, this happens every damn year, but every year I find myself muttering to myself "It's dark at 5 o'clock!?!?! How can this be?" It sucked when I was younger...but now I find this as proof positive that there is simply not enough time in the day. To add insult to injury...it's raining today and it's supposed to do that through the weekend.
Hopefully I'll de-funk-ify myself soon. I've got some big plans for the weekend. E's been begging to stay up late, so we might be having a movie night/slumber party one of these nights. We shall see...

I totally buy into Seasonal Affective Disorder, though it always takes me a good 7 days of "the blahs" to realize that it's that time of the year again, and recognizing the issue usually undoes it for me.
Haven - fed up by very full weekends - has asked to be in charge of what we do, so this Sunday morning (b/c it's the only block all weekend when we have some breathing room) we'll be having Moving Night at 9AM, per the girl's request.
The only plus of it getting darker earlier at our house is that I can fool the girls into going to bed earlier.
Fellin' a little "funky" myself. Yeah, must be the weather and the looming darkness!
I'm with you Slacker Mama! I need some de-funking too!
I am with JB...I buy into SAD too. It stinks because sometimes recently G doesn't wake up from his PM nap until 4:30 and then by the time we could get out the door, it is dark 5 minutes later. What can you do?
On the other hand, the whole late to bed, early to rise thing doesn't work for me anymore either. I am getting older. It pains me to admit that sometimes, but as a good friend once told me, the only alternative to aging is well...
On that happy note! :)
hope your weekend went well.
I hear you on the FUNK!
and the weather is not helping.
I'm thinking of buying a ginormous sun lamp and creating a beach like area in my backyard. Think my HOA will let that through? :)
