But trying to get pictures of them this morning looking cute? Damn near impossible. I've included the Before and After shots so you can see what I'm up against. The things I do for you guys...
Two Little Monkeys Sitting on a Coffee Table
A Pajama Mama and her Two Cutie Pies
"She had an accident?" I asked her teachers, thinking that maybe she had spilled her yogurt or something.I sat there a little dumbfounded. I mean, she purposely peed on the floor. There was really no accident involved in this. The teacher knew it. I knew it. And when I looked at A and asked her if she peed on the floor and she started saying "Let's get E! C'mon, mama!" So, it's safe to say she knew it too.
"Yeah, she had an accident," the teacher replied. "Well, she and Addison were playing in the gym. All of the sudden, she squatted down and peed."
"Uh...WHAT?!?!?" I asked.
"Yeah, she just squatted in the middle of the gym and started to go. Addison was pulling down her pants and squatting, too...but we were able to stop her."
"My...ear...hurt."I immediately started to panic about taking another kid to the doctor and how that would fit into the day and who would take her and would she she go back to sleep after I gave her Motrin or would she end up in my bed for the rest of the night. Then, she started yelling for me...so I went in to check on her. She said,
"My Ear-ee-ul fell." (Translation: My Ariel fell.)I picked up her Ariel, sang her a song and all was well in the world.
"E, do you want water to drink at dinner?"I figured I should take her to the doctor to be safe. I called the peditrician and secured a morning appointment. I told John as we were getting coats on the girls so we could figure out who would take her.
"What?"
"Do you want water to drink at dinner?"
"What?"
"DO YOU WANT WATER TO DRINK AT DINNER!?!?!"
"What?"
"E has a 9:50 appointment with the doctor."I have no idea where my girls love of going to the doctors comes from, but I find it highly disturbing. I mean, I guess it's much better than having traumatic experiences, but really kids? Why is it fun?
"YES!" E screamed while jumping up and down.
"I sick, too!" A started yelling. She yanked up her shirt as if she was trying to earn some beads at Mardi Gras. "My belly hurt, Daddy! I go to doctor, too!"
"The medicine's not working, mama. I think I need to go back to the doctors tomorrow."Kids can be so weird.
"Hey, I have an idea!" she said.At some point in the last few months, A has morphed from a toddler to a little girl...who has her own thoughts and ideas and expresses them in complete sentences. My other favorite from her this weekend? When she had an accident, so I just grabbed a new pair of panties from the dryer.
"What, A?"
"How about we go shopping to-maw-woe?"
"Shopping? Where do you want to go shopping?"
"Weg-a-mans. Or someplace else."
"Hmmm. That sounds like a plan, A. Shopping it is. Good night, sweetheart."
"But, mommy," she told me. "I need an actual pair of pants, too."In other news, Grandmom sent the girls care packages with new outfits in them, which they wore on Friday. I attempted to get a cute picture of the two of them...but the this was the best that I could do. Notice the curls are almost completely gone from A's hair...but it's still pretty blond. I miss the cute little ringlets that she used to have...but this new hair is much more manageable.
"Do you think we ought to go buy a C-R-A-S-T-E-M-A-S T-R-E-E?" he asked me.And then there was last night. Being the good little carnivores that the girls are, John felt the need to spell out a dinner proposal for tomorrow.
"A what?" I asked.
"Oh. Wait. A C-R-I-S-T-M-A-S T-R-E-E!"
"Do you want to have S-T-A-K?"Of course, I'm not perfect either. One night I asked John,
"Should we put in D-V-D for the girls?"I was shocked (shocked!) they figured that one out. Oh well, at least I spelled it right.
"What kind of drink is that, Daddy? Is it a BEER?!?!?"And, on the off chance that there was a parent who didn't hear it the first time, her younger
"What is it, Daddy? Is it a BEE-YAH?"
